I think its Ekhert Tolle who talks about our brains being too noisy - we think too much and our internal voice is constantly chattering away. Being able to transcend that and enter a meditative state is immensely powerful; something I am personally only just learning.

Funny that I feel the reverse of this, but with the same transcendant aspiration.
Speed the engine up, grind the cogs, take your brain to the redline...
I actually find there is a plateau beyond confusion and panic where multiple thoughts actually start to reinforce one another instead of conflicting. The syncopated frenzy of daily tasks becomes a reassuring thrum.
Beyond multi-tasking, try hyper-tasking.
Balance a pen on your nose while emailing.
Paint pictures while cooking the dinner.
Discover the glory of exhilerating calm of 'white thought'.
Of course it helps to be pissed!
