Sharing bad first drafts

Tim Kastelle's tweet pointed me to Ben Casnocha's post about "shitty first drafts". I thought the comment by Andy McKenzie extended the point quite elegantly:

This is a classic long-run vs short-run trade-off. In the short-run you get embarrassment and status hits from saying stupid things, but in the long run you learn more.
I think a lot of my learning experiences have followed that model. There is a practice called "Speak like you are right, listen like you are wrong." To be honest, I more often only consciously practice the second stage, have got to the first by not being very self-aware. I still find it helpful!
