Interacting, not intervening

I’m Johnnie Moore, and I help people work better together

I had coffee with Nathalie McDermott yesterday. She’s up to all kinds of good stuff helping create connections for people easily squeezed out of public conversations.

She made a terrific point about creating interactions not interventions. I hadn’t thought about this much but she made me realise there is a tremendous presumption in describing an action as an intervention. It’s a linguistic status play that places us outside and above not inside and equal. We’re kinda saying, “darling you merely interact whereas I intervene.”
